Vocational Steps to Art and Design at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This course will help you to develop the skills needed to progress in education, training or employment. You will build the skills essential for employment including developing a positive and flexible attitude, appropriate behaviour and clear communication skills. The course is also for those who are interested in Art & Design. You be will be given the opportunity to develop skills in areas such as: mosaic tiling, 2D and 3D art, silk painting, photography, glass painting, knitting, crocheting, painting and sketching.

Course content

English Maths Vocational units could include Skills for gaining employability Travel Safety Teamwork Using mixed media Craft skills Digital photography

Entry requirements

To gain entry to this course there are no specific academic requirements but you must provide a satisfactory reference, attend assessment and guidance sessions and undertake a successful interview to decide on the most appropriate programme. It would be preferable to demonstrate evidence of successful completion of an Entry Level 2 course. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."


Achievement will be measured via continuous assessment using a variety of different methods to capture evidence that demonstrates student competence.
