Course description

You will gain an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills required when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools.

Course content

Over the 2 year course you will study the CACHE Level 3 Award and Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools.


A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (A*-C) including English + Maths


Observation, portfolio, written assignments + tasks.

Financial information

Everything you must have to undertake the course will be provided by college. You may have to pay for extras such as trips/visits.

Future opportunities

Students will be able to progress to Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Foundation Degrees and employment in schools.

Further information

This is a work-related course so work placements are a key part of your study. You will take part in placements working with children of different ages in a variety of settings.
