Course description

By studying this course you will:

Course content

Get on the road to a great career in the motor vehicle industry with the Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Technology. This pre-apprenticeship programme will develop your skills and knowledge in a range of areas and give you a multi-skilled qualification which will enable you to progress to a higher level qualification or an apprenticeship in the area that interests you the most. You will learn skills in light vehicle service and repair, vehicle body repair, vehicle body refinishing, valeting and vehicle construction and use your skills in a realistic working environment in our modern industry-standard workshop.

Entry requirements

To access this course you will be required to:

  • Attend an interview at the college
  • Complete an online assessment to determine your current skills and knowledge

Assessment

Throughout the course you will be assessed through observation of practical tasks, written assessments, assignments, research and on-line tests.

Future opportunities

Succesful completion of the course will enable you to:

  • Progress to the Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Technology
  • Pursue an apprenticeship in the motor vehicle industry

    • The Paget Road campus, in Compton to the west of Wolverhampton, provides courses in art and design, business and management, computing and IT, education and teaching, engineering, English, health and social care, journalism, maths, media, motor vehicle, music technology, performing arts, photography and science.

      Also on offer at the site are Pathways programmes for people without any formal qualifications, ESOL courses for speakers of other languages, and short courses for job seekers.

      The campus is also home to CitySixth – the college's dedicated sixth form centre offering A Levels in a range of subjects - and a Higher Education Centre which offers HNCs, HNDs and Foundation Degrees, and also boasts an Engineering Learning Zone also equipped with industry-standard equipment, modern motor vehicle workshops, new performing and recording studios, and well equipped science labs.

      The site has a Student Hub, Study Hub, cafeteria and large free student car park and is on major bus routes.
