Art and Design AS/A Level at Sandwich Technology School
Why study this subject?
Studying A Level Art will enable candidates to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures. It gives flexibility to allow students to work from their strengths using a range of media to produce pieces of artwork. These could include photography, sculpture, printing, painting and many others. This course provides a strong foundation for further study of Art and Design, or related subjects, in Higher Education.
Students are encouraged to become independent learners and to develop enquiring minds. All units must be linked and connected to the work of artists, craftspeople or designers. As such you will be encouraged to develop a wider knowledge of the work of a range of artists and to start to understand what you like and why this is. You will then learn to develop your own style using influences
At least 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 and preferably an Arts subject
By portfolio with an end of year exam in both the AS and A2 courses
