Sports Massage VRQ Diploma Level 3 at Weston College

Course description

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements needed to work effectively as a sports massage therapist. This includes anatomy and physiology, professional practice, an understanding of the principles of health and fitness and how to provide sports massage treatments. The Level 3 Sports Massage therapist will be able to work safely and effectively on dysfunctional tissue in a range of context, to include pre-event, post-event, intra-event and for maintenance purposes.

Entry requirements

A Level 2 in a relevant vocational area, such as Beauty Therapy or sport equivalent. You must be able to show commitment to study, have a mature and professional attitude and a passion for working in the industry. GCSE C or above in both maths and English are desirable to study at this level and work experience is an important element.


We will assess you all through the year with online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You will also have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and you will manage targets that have been set throughout the year for you by your tutor.

Future opportunities

Progress to:

  • Sports Massage Therapy, Level 4 Certificate (QCF)
  • Specialist study programmes in Beauty or Spa Therapy.
