Course description

This course is the ideal starting point for those interested in the electrical industry.

Course content

You will study health and safety, working effectively and efficiently in engineering and communicating technical information. You will select additional units depending on the route you wish to follow. Ideal if you would like to develop skills and knowledge for work in the engineering industry.

Entry requirements

You should have two GCSEs at Grade F or above and have an interest in engineering.


Your progress will be assessed by the awarding body (EAL) and will be done in the workshop and via a number of written questions. The practical tasks will be assessed throughout the course to ensure competency. You will collate a portfolio of evidence that indicates competence and understanding of each chosen unit. You will be assessed by a series of jobs and written questions all forming part of your portfolio

Future opportunities

After completing the course you can progress onto NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 (Electrical Bias).
