Applied Health & Social Care

If you are looking for a career in health work or social care then this is the course for you. This course has been designed to give you a broad understanding of health, social care and early years working environments.

You will develop realistic knowledge and understanding of a very diverse sector and you will learn to apply your knowledge to specific scenarios.

This is an Applied A-Level subject and due to the breadth of study is a double award equal to 2 A-Levels.

Entry requirements

To study A-Levels at RSFC you must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A* - C, covering at least four different subject areas. Two of the 5 A* - C grades must include GCSE Maths and English Language. A good school reference, attendance and behaviour record are also required as is a positive college interview.

Financial information

If you are between 16 and 19 years old and think that you might struggle with the costs of full-time education you may apply for a bursary. The students most in need will be eligible to receive a bursary of £1,200 a year. This group includes:

• Disabled young people in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance

• Young people in care• Care leavers

• Young people in receipt of income support

Other students facing genuine financial difficulties can apply for the Discretionary Bursary Fund (DBF).The DBF can support students with travel costs, equipment, books and other course-related costs.
