Engineering Maintenance Advanced Apprenticeship at Northampton College
Level 3 is ideal if you have been working in engineering maintenance for some time and have a great deal of technical skills plus a sound understanding of safety, tools and equipment. You work with minimum supervision or may supervise others. This advanced apprenticeship consists of the Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering, Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills, Employers Rights and Responsibilities and Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT at Level 2 if the applicant does not already hold the equivalent The apprentice will spend one day at college per week studying the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma which is a theory based qualification and is assessed through assignment work. The remainder of the time is spent in the workplace learning on the job and building a portfolio of evidence which you assessor will assess monthly. Examples of units you may study are: Working efficiently and effectively in engineering Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements Producing components using hand fitting techniques

Employed as a Maintenance Engineer with the right responsibilities to meet the criteria. Pass an English and maths assessment at Level 2 with a minimum of 50% and pass an additional maths paper.
The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is assessed through assignment work. The NVQ Extended Diploma is assessed through a portfolio of evidence produced in the work place. Functional Skills are assessed through exams (if required).
