Games Technology Level 3 at Access Creative College

Course description

If you’d like to script, develop and code games then this is the course for you. Collaborating with other games students you will work towards a final major project where you will develop a functioning game.

Course content

LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF GAME DESIGN & APPS Learn about the fundamental design principles and techniques for creating games and interactive applications.

WORK WITH ADVANCED GAMES ENGINES Familiarise yourself with high-end 3D game engines using scripting and node-based systems.

TEST YOUR OWN GAMES Create test cases and experience bug tracking, focus testing and quality assurance.

CREATIVE BUSINESS PRACTICE Understand how the games and media industries work and how to market yourself successfully.

Entry requirements

We value your creative passion and skills above all else. However, you will need to demonstrate that you are able to work at Level 3 (A Level standard) and we will take your actual, or predicted, grades into account.

FREE for 16-18s.

Future opportunities

You will achieve a Level 3 BTEC Creative Digital Media Production Extended Diploma which can lead on to a creative degree. Completion of both years of the course can generate up to 168 UCAS points, or the equivalent of three A* grades at A Level. You may also go straight into employment in the creative industries.
