You have skills in Health and Social Care and wish to further these skills to pursue a career in the field.

Course content

You will develop further knowledge and understanding of a variety of subjects, including: Communication; Equality, diversity and rights; and Health, safety and security in Health & Social Care.

You will also choose specialist units to tailor the qualification to the healthcare route you would like to take. This diploma allows you to earn up to 120 UCAS points towards university entry.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English Language and Maths; or a Distinction Grade at BTEC First Diploma; or equivalent with Cs or above in English Language and Maths. You can progress from a Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification and successful functional skills. You will also need to attend an interview with a course tutor and receive a satisfactory reference. You must provide two confidential references and be able to work in demanding voluntary settings.


Assessment is carried out using a range of methods, which could include: direct observation, reports, assignments, essays, presentations and case studies.

Future opportunities

This course is excellent preparation for moving into the sector at support level. Careers include: care workers and assistants (domiciliary, children, mental health, elderly), Health & Social Care apprenticeships, support workers and health care supervisors.
