Sport and Exercise Science (Top Up) BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Doncaster College

Course description

‚ÄčA one year level 3 programme of study at The Hub which has been tailored to meet your individual needs, education and employment goals.

You will:

  • spend most of your college week studying and industry recognised qualification - BTEC Level 3 Top Up Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science
  • participate in practical sport activities, fitness testing and training, tutorials, work experience, delivering sport and fitness activities to schools and community groups
  • continue studying GCSE Maths if you did not achieve at least a GCSE grade C.

The course provides and excellent opportunity for you to combine the theoretic side of sports science with the practical application of that knowledge, and follows on from our BTEC Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science Subsidiary Diploma.

Course content

The course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and understanding of a number of science based units. The course allows for natural progression onto Higher Education and future employment in the sport and recreation industries.

Entry requirements

  • BTEC L3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science - a merit profile essential
  • All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview

 

Assessment

You will be assessed by a broad range of methods including practical observations, presentations, discussions, assignments, video, demonstrations, portfolio, and group work.

Job opportunities include sports and leisure assistant, pool lifeguard, sports coach, fitness instructor, outdoor activity instructor, physical education teacher, sports therapist, chiropractic practitioner and nutritionist.
