Course description

Careers in creative media have never been so diverse. With digital technology booming, your ideas can quickly be brought to life on the big or small screen. Our Creative Media courses will teach you the technical skills to make your work stand out and give you the knowledge and inspiration to explore your own ideas.

Course content

This practical course will see you creating your own projects and assignments in our design studios. By working to briefs based on the real world you will get to see what life’s really like in this vibrant industry. Choose the right course for you and you can either touch on all areas of creative digital media, focus on creative film production or computer game design. This course is made up of a series of projects designed to cover all aspects of Computer Games Design in a practical and exciting way. You will develop essential practical and theoretical knowledge throughout your course. We are one of the only colleges in the area offering motion capture technology – an essential prerequisite for anyone wanting to break into the computer games industry!

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs grade C or above, including English and/or Maths, or a Level 2 Diploma in a related subject.

Assessment

Assessment is through assignment based work. The emphasis is on practical work, although a certain amount of written work is required. The work is graded into pass, merit and distinction. There will be a series of projects which are designed to cover all aspects of Computer Games Design in a practical and exciting way.

Future opportunities

After this course you could go on to university to study degrees such as computer game design, character animation or illustration. Alternatively you could find work in the computer games industry.
