Modern Languages (German) at Waseley Hills High School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

The Modern Languages department at Waseley Hills is pleased to be able to offer the new A Level course in German. Students studying Modern Languages at Waseley Hills will have the benefit of being taught in small groups by highly qualified staff including native speakers.

Students have the option of studying for an AS (A1) or Advanced GCE (A2) level qualification lasting 1 or 2 years respectively. Close attention will be paid to developing Target Language skills and a 1 week Work Experience placement will be organised in a German speaking country.

At Waseley Hills, we also offer the opportunity to develop the key skills element of AS/A levels. Several universities will be considering Key Skills as part of an offer where appropriate.

General topic areas to be studied will include:

Day to Day Matters: Food, diet, health, transport, travel and tourism, current affairs and media.

Society: Relationships, generation and family, youth issues, social issues, law and justice, leisure

and the arts.

The World of Work: Education, training, employment, business and industry, science and technology.

The Environment and Citizenship: Energy, pollution, the environment, politics and citizenship, campaigning organisations, charities culture of target language countries.

There may be changes to course specification due to a national programme of revising specifications.

Entry requirements

B grade at GCSE in German. Under exceptional circumstances, a GCSE C grade would be considered
