Economics A Level *FEES PAYABLE* at Felsted School

Course description

The subject lends itself to a very
contemporary approach to teaching
and learning. Students are expected to
keep abreast of the news and to
develop an analytical approach to life
from an economic point of view.
Lessons often contain recent affairs
unfolding across the nation and across
global markets.
Students will be required to produce
one good quality essay per week. To
keep folders organised and to
independently review lesson materials.
In addition to this we expect students
to read newspapers and dip into
resources such as the Economist or
Business Review magazine. They can
also engage with the subject through
tweeting relevant articles and
responding to departmental tweets.


Entry requirements

You will need to learn theory and
apply this theory to real life scenarios.
In addition you will have to show your
ability to analyse the information that
you have presented. To secure the
highest marks you will also be
required to evaluate the information
that you provide.

Paper 1: Operation of markets and
market failure. 50%
Paper 2: The National Economy.
A Level
Paper 1: Markets and market failure.
Paper 2: National and international
economy. 33.3%
Paper 3: Economic principles and
issues. 33.3%

Future opportunities

A Level Economics provides students
with the opportunities to develop
important skills and relevant tools that
will be helpful in many courses and
for employment.
The range of careers synonymous with
Economics is broad. However, we
often have students aspiring to the
following industries: Law,
Management Consultancy,
Accountancy, Banking and the Civil
Service to name a few.
