Critical and Contextual Studies in Art and Architecture A - AS Level at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College

Course description

This course is suitable for students’ who are interested Art, and/or Design History, Architecture or, History of Photography. This course suits students wishing to compose their A Level subjects with solely visual arts based subjects, or those wishing to go onto Architecture and may have strong Maths & Science skills. This course is suitable for those who want to progress onto higher education. It also provides a progression route to Foundation Degree programmes. It is possible to enter employment at this stage; perhaps gathering further qualifications along the way but generally this course is to provide and offer a taster to the requirements of higher education, and subjects such as architecture, art history / curators, interior design, spatial design courses and combined with other subjects engineering could be a potential destination. Alternatively, if you are visual arts students then the plethora of visual art careers dependent on your subject combinations are also optional. Please speak to Photography, Graphics, Design and Art teachers about these.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs Grade A - C including two B Grades in academic subjects Specific requirements - English and Maths GCSE at Grade C and an enthusiasm for drawing and analysing visual art / architecture. You may also bring a portfolio of drawings to the interview.
