Media Studies at Herschel Grammar School

Course description

This creative, exciting and popular subject offers you a chance to study in detail the way the media communicates with its audiences, and how audiences can be manipulated by the mass media. You will be involved in a number of production projects where you can put your knowledge to practical effect. The focus will be on the major media forms: television, print (magazines) and film (documentaries) as well as the new media technologies such as the Internet.

Entry requirements

In addition to the general entry requirements for the HerschelConsortium, you will need at least a Grade B in GCSE English Language or English Literature. You do not need to have taken Media Studies at GCSE but if you have, we would expectat least a Grade B. You should also have the ability to work constructively as a member of a team, and have a strong analytical ability. An interest in history, politics and current affairs would also be beneficial.
