BTEC Nationals Level ICT at Sawtry Village Academy

Course description

This excellent course develops your ICT skills to the level expected of a trainee in most industries. You will develop advanced skills in the use of spreadsheets, databases, word processing, research and web editing software.


The research task on the course will strengthen your ability to find specific information on the internet and present it using a variety of tools. You will explore the latest technologies through interactive projects and discussion. Topics include online services, social media, doing business on the web, and business analytics.


In Year 13 you will learn about emerging technologies, digital devices, networking and data transmission and develop your project management and presentation skills. Lessons are often discussion-led and we encourage students to become discerning users of ICT.


Entry requirements

Average points score of 38+ and at least grade C in GCSE English and/ or maths.

Future opportunities

The BTEC Nationals Level 3 in ICT  qualifies for UCAS points, so if you complete it successfully you could move on to study a University degree or BTEC Higher National Diploma in related subjects such as ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Multimedia, Software Engineering, Computer Networking, e-Business and Information Management.


You could also go on to work-based training such as IT User/Practitioner NVQs or vendor-specific qualifications.  In addition, the course would develop your competency and directly prepare you for jobs in a wide range of fields.
