Business Level 2 at Northampton College
There is a mixture of practical and theoretical work. Core Units:- Business Purposes- Business Organisations- Financial Forecasting for Business- People in Organisations- The Marketing PlanAdditional* Units:- Verbal and Non-verbal Communication in Business Contexts- Customer Relations in Business- Business Communication through Documentation- Personal Selling in Business- Training and Employment in Business- Business Online- Business Ethics*Units selected may change from year to year.Students will also be required to undertake additional qulaifications to improve their English and Mathematics if they have not already achieved GCSE passes at Grade C in these subjects.The method of learning is by tutor led sessions supported by portfolio workshop sessions, where students are supported through assignment work and related tasks.
The qualification will be suitable for anyone who wishes to develop skills in understanding how businesses work.
Successful completion of a Level 1 programme with Level 1 English and Mathematics or four GCSEs at Grade D or above including English Language and Mathematics.
Units are internally and externally assessed through coursework and moderated. The coursework is graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. Assignments will be presented in a variety of formats including presentation, role plays, written work and some time constrained class work. In order to obtain a Pass for the whole course a minimum Pass Grade in all 10 of the units taken is necessary. The qualification will have an overall grade awarded of Pass, Merit and Distinction. The overall grade will be calculated on the total points achieved from assessed units.
If students achieve a Pass Grade at the end of this couse they could apply for a Level 2 Diploma in another subject area.If an overall Merit Grade is achieved at Level 2 plus GCSE English Language at Grade C students could apply for Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business or another subject within the college.Alternatively, you could begin part or full-time employment.
Students will be required to purchase all of their own materials (text book, paper, pens etc). Course text books cost approximately £20. All students will need to pay a trip fee of approximately £25 on enrolment.
