Mathematics A Level at Eaton Bank Academy

Course description

Mathematics is a popular Sixth Form subject that is highly regarded by University
Admission Tutors and Employers. Due to its nature though, it is not an option open to all. The core modules build upon concepts started at GCSE level and a sound knowledge of algebra is required to access these modules. We therefore ask for at least a GCSE grade 6 to be achieved usually from set 1 or set 2.
There will also be online assignments set in the summer to help ensure that students taking Mathematics A level have the required knowledge of algebra.

Course content

Paper 1 Pure Mathematics 1: AS content assessed at A level standard
Paper 2 Pure Mathematics 2: Pure Mathematics 2. Remaining pure content which builds on and incorporates AS content.
Paper 3: Statistics and Mechanics. Section A: Statistics (50 marks)
Section B: Mechanics (50 marks)

Future opportunities

Mathematics is highly prized in many areas, particularly financial services and information technology. Mathematics A level is also a requirement for
many degree courses.
