Art & Media BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Brooklands College

Course description

This is a practical course that enables you to build and develop a range of art and media skills. You learn by completing projects and assignments that introduce you to a range of specialisms within both areas such as drawing, painting, print-making, 3D design, digital photography, animation and video production.  It provides a foundation to move onto the next level qualification or employment.

You will also continue to strengthen your Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT.

This course would suit those with an interest in following a career in the Art and Media sectors.

Entry requirements

You need GCSE passes at grade D or below.


There will be internally assessed practical assignments throughout the course.

Financial information

Students buy their own materials such as USB memory sticks, blank DVDs and art supplies.  There are several visits to London art galleries, TV studios, etc.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

This qualification could enable you to apply for a place on the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design or Media

Job roles in this sector could include: Graphic Design Assistant, Textile Design or Photographer to name a few.
