Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship Level 2 and 3 at Preston's College
If you want a career in Childcare then this Apprenticeship is for you. The Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in the Childcare industry.
Practitioners in this area support children to learn, develop and reach their full potential. ‘Play is Children’s work’ according to Tina Bruce and a childcare Apprenticeship involves working in a childcare setting where you will use play to help children question the world around them and develop social skills.
– Introduction to communication in health, social care or children and young people’s settings
– Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children and young people’s settings
– Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children and young people’s settings
You will also undertake functional skills in maths, English and ICT alongside your apprenticeship.
All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. At Level 2 you’ll need four GCSEs at grade D or above including English and maths. At level 3 you will need a Level 2 qualification in the subject or 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and maths at grade C or above with at least a D in the remaining subject. To work in this industry you will need a DBS (disclosure and barring service) check.
Assessment will be through a range of methods including course work, oral questioning, a portfolio of evidence and practical demonstrations.
Successful completion of the programme can provide direct entry to Higher Education or improve your employment opportunities as a Nursery nurse or Childminder.
