Children and Young People’s Workforce CACHE Level 2 Certificate at Brooklands College

Course description

This subject is for you if you have an interest in working with children.

The course provides underpinning knowledge through themed taught lessons and is assessed through work placement competency and written work.

Course content

The topics covered within the course include:
• Communication in Children’s settings
• Personal development in Children’s settings
• Equality and Inclusion in Children’s settings
• Child and young person development
• Safeguarding welfare
• Supporting a positive environment in the setting
• Contributing to health and safety

Entry requirements

At least 4 GCSEs grade C to D, these should include GCSE English Language at grade C, a satisfactory reference and a CRB clearance.


An assessor will assess you in your work placement environment providing on-going support to compile your portfolio of evidence.

Financial information

Your tutor will advise you of any additional costs at the start of the course.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

This qualification is an excellent route to employment or you may be able to progress onto the Diploma in the Children and Young Peoples Workforce.  Job roles in this sector include:  Nursery Nurse and Nanny.
