Hairdressing Level 3 Diploma at Furness College
For a party night out, or a new look you’ll learn all the latest techniques in the Salon. From hair extensions, to styling, cutting, colouring, perming and plaiting – you’ll be a popular friend to have.
Units studied include: health & safety, cutting and restyling hair, advanced colouring and colour correction. Options include: providing hair extension services, developing
creative hairdressing skills, massage treatments, and contributing to the planning and implementation of promotional activities.
Every full-time course will include a real experience of work.
Maths and English form part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
A Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing. You will also need a good level of basic education - 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above and relevant industrial experience.
All the practical work is assessed in salon on clients and practical sessions. Oral questions prove knowledge. There are assignments and written tests in each area. A portfolio of evidence is built up throughout the course and exams are set for the majority of units.
There is a dress code of tunic top – approximately £25 and low heeled shoes. Day trip to Manchester Hair Show – approximately £25. Optional trip to London , Excel Hair Show, for £150 (over 18s only). Hairdressing kits are available for purchase from £90.
Students can progress on to university to study tricology, foundation degree in hair, beauty & business, beauty/complementary therapy courses or teacher training.
Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interview. Our students are employed in salons, on cruise liners, in health spas, as freelance hairdressers, or set up their own business.
