Course description

Why study this subject?
Students studying this subject do so to further their skills and interest in the subject. The course provides a solid foundation from which to progress to a range of higher education courses in Art and Design or Textiles. Future careers could include Fashion design, Costume design, Fashion Journalism or a wide range of other roles which rely on the creative use of textiles.


Assessment:
By portfolio with an end of year exam in both the AS and A2 courses.

Length of the course: AS in one year. A2 in a further year

 

Course content

Students are encouraged to become independent learners and to develop enquiring minds. All units must be linked and connected to the work of artists, craftspeople or designers. As such you will be encouraged to develop a wider knowledge of the work of a range of artists and to start to understand what you like and why this is. You will then learn to develop your own style using these influences.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 and preferably an Arts subject
