Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship Level 2 at Warwickshire College Group

Course description

The Apprenticeship will cover health and safety, working effectively and efficiently, and using and communicating technical information. There are also a range of optional units to be undertaken based upon the type of work that you are employed in, such as (but not limited to):

  • Manual welding
  • Brazing and/or soldering
  • Sheet or plate metal work
  • Pipework fabrication

Entry requirements

You need to be aged between 16 and 24 and currently employed in the welding and fabrication industry. There are no specific qualifications needed but numeracy and literacy skills would be an advantage (help with these skills can be offered to support achieving the required English, Maths and ICT level).


For your NVQ you will be assessed on your practical competence through regular visits and assessments your appointed Instructor/Assessor For the technical certificate you will be assessed by a combination of online and internal theory and practical tests.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the programme you could go on to study a two year Level 3 Advanced Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship.
