Mathematics A2 Level at Samuel Lister Academy

Course description

This A Level course is one of the most sought after qualifications in the world today. It opens many doors to many different future opportunities and careers

Course content

The AS Level in Maths consists of three modules - 2 modules of pure Maths and 1 module of Statistics.  This does sound quite scary I know but here at Nab Wood we take care to ensure that each students understands each module so that the final exams dont seem so daunting!!!  We have an excellent trrack record here at school with good grades and excellent further development of students

Entry requirements

To do the first part of the A Level (AS) you need to have achieved at least a grade B at GCSE Maths to make sure that you can cope with the workload of the A Level.  You must pass your AS Level to proceed to A Level.

Assessment

Assessment is in the form of 6x90 minute exams (1 for each unit of work)

Future opportunities

A Level Maths combines well with all the sciences but particularly with Physics.  It is highly valued at University and is essential for anyone who is interested in any form of engineering or computer science.  Employers also value students with A Level Maths because they realise that you are a logical thinker who can solve problems with a high level of intelligence.
