Biology AS at Harris Academy Battersea
AS Biology is a challenging, rewarding course that helps students develop skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career. It offers teachers and students freedom, creativity and opportunity for independent progression from GCSE Science or Biology.
Enrichment opportunities include: AS trips to University Laboratories at Imperial College London where pupils will complete practical activities including Thin Layer Chromatography and Gel electrophoresis; tutorials and drop-in sessions.
Students often study Biology alongside other Science A-Levels and Mathematics.

Module 3: Exchange and Transport

Module 4: Biodiversity, Evolution and Disease
- Communicable Diseases
- Immune System
Students must have at least a B grade in Additional Science GCSE or Triple Science GCSE examinations.
Examination Board: OCR
These are assessed by written exam (2 papers: 1 hour, 15 minutes and 1 hour)
