French AS at Sir George Monoux College

Course description

Whatever career path you choose, language skills are highly sought after by employers and can significantly enhance your prospects. A Levels in French are also welcomed by universities and combine well with a wide range of other A Level subjects. We are pleased to be introducing both French and Spanish AS and A2 courses for September 2014 and expect places to fill fast.

Course content

Want to develop confident, effective communication skills in French and a good understanding of French culture? This course is for you! It is especially appropriate if you have already got a GCSE or equivalent in French and want to develop your skills to a higher level. A Level French combines well with a wide variety of other A Level subjects and is a very useful addition to your CV, whatever career path you are aiming for. You will be encouraged to consider your study of the language in a broader context - looking at current social issues and using news media, for example.

Future opportunities

With an A-Level in French, university is a likely destination for you. There are many courses around the UK where you can study towards a Single Honours degree in French. Lots of these involve a year studying abroad, which is a fantastic opportunity. There are also plenty of courses where you can take a language in addition to another subject such as Law or Economics, or a second language. Even if you opt for a differerent subject at university, you will find employers will welcome your AS/A2 qualification when you enter the world of work.
