AAT Certificate in Accounting Level 2 at Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMET)
Course description
This level includes the basic building blocks of financial accounting, double entry book keeping. You will also cover additional units vital to the role of accounts assistant eg computerised accounts and basic costing. It is essential that an accountant understands the whole of the business environment. To facilitate this and to provide sufficient UCAS points for those wishing to progress into HE you will also study a Certificate in Business & Personal Finance. All elements of this course are mandatory.

Entry requirements
You will need 5 GCSEs grades A to C including English with maths at a minimum of a D grade.
Assessment
The AAT is assessed by computer based exams and computer based projects. Upon completion of the Computer based exams you will receive immediate notification of your result and an analysis of your performance on each task. The BTEC is assessed through unitised assignments marked by the tutors.
Future opportunities
You can progress onto AAT Level 3 after successfully completing this course on either a full time basis or by moving into the work place and studying part time. This course can also be undertaken as part of an apprenticeship programme.
