Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 2 at Sunderland College

Course description

This course is for 16-18 year olds who wish to make a career for themselves in the beauty therapy industry.

Course content

This course covers the following areas of beauty therapy:

  • Health and safety
  • Client care and communication
  • Working in beauty related industries
  • Facial skin care
  • Waxing
  • Manicure application
  • Pedicure application
  • Make-up application
  • Eye treatment
  • Create and image
  • Reception duties

Entry requirements

You’ll need a minimum of two GCSE’s at grade D including English Language. You will also be required to take a skills assessment at the start of the course.


You will learn through a variety of teaching methods including practical work in our purpose built fully working salon and theory and written assessments.

Financial information

There are many career opportunities for beauty therapists, including working in a salon, self-employment, or working overseas in hotels or on board cruise ships.

You may also wish to progress onto a NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or VRQ Level 3 programme.
