Course description

Religious Studies What Will I Study? You will examine a variety of moral issues, consider and present your own views and discuss those of others. You will learn to appreciate the diversity of peoples’ cultures and spirituality while developing an empathy with and understanding of Key Life issues; in this way you will be able to make informed choices about the world you live in.

Course content

The RS syllabus is from the AQA Board and you will study two modules of Religion and Morality: Matters of Life; Elderly and Death; Crime and Punishment; Drugs, Life Issues: Animal Rights; Planet Earth; Early Life; Prejudice, Philosophy and Ultimate Questions: The Evidence of God; Evil and Suffering; Miracles; Immortality.

Assessment

Examination: 1 or 2 papers, each of 1.5 hours.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Religious Studies or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to religious studies or the more general social sciences such as a Social Worker, Teacher or Youth Worker. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
