Who is the programme for?Students over 17 who want to work towards a career in the nail industry.What is the programme structure?Theory and practicalThe course is made up of 11 unitsWhat does the programme include?Level 3 VRQ units include:-301 - Working with colleagues within beauty related industries302 - Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon303 - Client care and communication in beauty related industries304 - Promote and sell products and services to the client213 - Display stock314 - Apply and maintain nail enhancements320 - Enhance Nails using electric files328 - Airbrush design for the nails329 - Design and apply nail art334 - Nail enhancements and advanced hand and nail art techniques332 - Explore technological developments within the hair, beauty and associated areaStudents yet to attain grade C in English and maths will work towards qualifications in these subjects, which are essential in preparing them for progression onto higher level study and /or employment.Requirements:- Wear professional uniform as recommended by the College including Black flat shoes- High standards of personal hygiene- Be able to work effectively with others and be willing to carry out and receive all treatments. You may be required to treat male clients- Excellent attendance is required (100% expected, minimum 90% acceptable)- Remove all jewellery, including facial piercings (in line with Awarding Body requirements) - Hair must be well groomed and worn up if longAre there any special facilities for the programme?The College's Enhance salon offers a realistic working environment. Visits to nail exhibitions are also organised as part of the course. Students are encouraged to enter their work at competition level.

NVQ 2 Nail Services or equivalent


Continuous assessment, observed practical work and on line testing for all theory.Examining Body - City & Guilds

Future opportunities

Successful students may progress into Industry or set up their own business
