This is a BTEC course

 

This is a practical course that will give you an understanding of the skills and techniques you will require to move into further study or start a career in the world of Biology.  Each unit is assessed by a series of assignments and the production of a portfolio which is marked to a grading scale of pass, merit or distinction.

Successful completion of Units 1, 2 and 3 in the first year results in Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Applied Science.  To be awarded Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Science all six units must be completed to a minimum of a pass grade

Unit 1 - Fundamentals of Science

Unit 2 - Working in the Science Industry

Unit 3 - Scientific and Practical Techniques

Unit 4 - Physiology of Human Body Systems

Unit 5 - Genetics and Biochemical Techniques

Unit 6 - Microbiological Techniques

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved a minimum of Grade C GCSE in Core Science or a pass in OCR National Science for entry onto this course.
