Leisure & Tourism Double Award at Kingsthorpe College

Course content

Humanities Option Students are being offered the opportunity to study Leisure and Tourism as a double GCSE. The double GCSE is a vocational course (practical – with module assessments), aimed at providing students with direct experience of the leisure and tourism industry. Subject Content There is only one exam (33%) that can be retaken. The course is divided into 3 main units: Leisure and Tourism (exam), Customer Service (portfolio) and Marketing (portfolio). Fieldwork Students will visit a number of locations around Northamptonshire. There are also visits to Alton Towers and London. With potentially a visit to Eurodisney in France. The modules provide the opportunity for students to experience the leisure and tourism industry first hand and to be actively involved in its process. Students are recommended that their school work experience is linked to this course. Your Future Career This double GCSE is designed to help people who would like a career in the leisure or tourist industry. Skills will be developed so that students will have a good understanding and gain access to jobs in the leisure and tourist industry. Job Links This course is ideal for those students who would like to work in the following industries: airlines, hotel management, leisure centres, event management, travel agents, holiday reps, music venues, theme parks and lots more.
