Professional Cookery Level 2 at Gateshead College
If you have a passion for food and would like a career in professional cookery, this year-long, nationally recognised qualification will help you develop the skills and knowledge that this fast-paced industry requires.
Training in our professional standard kitchens you'll studying a range of techniques involved in preparing and cooking different types of dishes including:
- Soups and stocks
You'll also complete qualifications in Food Service and Food Hygiene, Health & Safety to give you the edge when interviewing for jobs. You'll also have the opportunity to achieve vital Maths and English qualifications.
- This course is Level 2 - you should have appropriate vocational qualifications at Level 1 or some GCSEs at grade D or above, preferably including English and maths.
- We welcome all applicants without any prior experience or knowledge in this area. You will need motivation to achieve and have a passion to gain skills enabling you to progress this as a career in the future.
You will be assessed throughout the course in both practical and theory work.
During the course you will need to wear a Gateshead College catering uniform which you will need to buy, along with a course book and knife kit.
Funding is available and we'll discuss this with you at your interview or induction.
On completion of the course, you can progress into the hospitality or catering industry or onto our Level 3 Professional Cookery.
