Travel & Tourism BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Tyne Metropolitan College

Course description

You want to explore the world’s biggest and most diverse industry further with advanced knowledge about the business, culture and economics of the industry.

Course content

As well as gaining skills in customer service, you will gain an increased understanding of the corporate world of tourism and the nature and effects of world travel. You will also study a number of other units, such as: worldwide tourism destinations and holiday planning.

You'll be able to put your learning to the test with trips to visitor attractions including Beamish and Flamingo Land, and have the opportunity to get involved with charity events and the NCFE Resort Rep course.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (including at least 1 at Grade C or above); or a merit at Level 1 Travel & Tourism and 1 GCSE at Grade D or above. An interview with a course tutor and a reference from a personal tutor are also required.


Assessment is coursework based including: oral exams, practical demonstrations, presentations, reports, role-play and observations.

Future opportunities

You could progress onto a Level 3 Travel and Tourism course, or embark on a career in Travel and Tourism working in travel agencies, airports, airlines, tourist venues and attractions.
