Mathematics A GCSE (AQA) at Ryburn Valley High School
GCSE courses have 2 levels of entry, Higher Level and Foundation Level, the Higher Level will give access to grades A* to D and the Foundation Level will give access to grades C to G.Each of the levels of entry requires you to complete written examinations and coursework. Pupils who are particularly good at Mathematics may also be given the opportunity to study GCSE Statistics. Pupils who find Mathematics somewhat challenging may be directed to follow a modular route to GCSE success. Pupils who find the work particularly difficult can achieve success in Mathematics by studying the Certificate of Achievement course.
You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Mathematics or Statistics or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification.With further training, you could go into a job related to mathematics such as an Accountant, Finance Clerk, Teacher or Payroll Officer. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
