Childcare and Education (CACHE LEVEL 2) - 1 year at Longley Park Sixth Form College

Course description

This course looks at children at different stages in their growth and development, how to care for and educate them and how to work with parents, carers and other professionals.

Course content

You will student how to care and educate students including communication, positive behaviour, safeguarding and welfare, first aid and health and safety and creating positive environments for children and young people.


A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.


Entry requirements

2 GCSEs at grade 3(D) preferably in English + Maths


Assessment will be through assignments and you will also be assessed on your work placement.  

Financial information

Everything you must have to undertake the course will be provided by college.  You may have to pay for extras such as trips/visits.

Future opportunities

The Certificate trains you to work in a job as an assistant in settings such as nurseries, crèches, parent/toddler groups, toy libraries. Students from this course have also gone on to study the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education and other Level 3 qualifications such as Health & Social Care.

Further information

This is a work-related course so work placements are a key part of your study. You will take part in placements working with children of different ages in a variety of settings.
