Computer Science A Level at The Whitehaven Academy

Course description

Computer Science is an exciting, growing, challenging field that has an impact on almost any area in everyday life you can think of, yet there are still many new uses of computers to be discovered.

You will study the broad subject areas of computing principles, algorithms and programming, and programming languages.

Entry requirements

A GCSE grade C or above in English Language, Mathematics, Computing or ICT related subject or a Science.


AS – 2 written examination papers

A2 – 2 written examination papers and a programming project

Future opportunities

This qualification provides entry into a wide range of progression routes including university and apprenticeships as well as a wide range of careers such as: business management, human resources, marketing, finance and accounting, project management, software development, artificial intelligence, games design, systems analysis.
