Children and Young People's Workforce Apprenticeship Intermediate Level at Guildford College

Course description

This Intermediate Apprenticeship is for people who work with children – from birth to 16-year-olds (and their families) - in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care, learning and development.

Around 10% of jobs in the UK involve working with children and young people from birth to 16 and can include jobs working for local authorities in schools, colleges and nurseries or working for private childcare providers.

Apprenticeships in this subject can follow various pathways depending on your area of interest.

You may be working in an Early Years setting, or follow a route in to children's social care or playwork, but whichever route you take, your main area of work will be to make sure that children are looked after, kept active, happy and nourished, whilst also helping children develop social and practical skills.

Entry requirements

You should be working in the industry and interested in developing your skills. Good GCSEs are an advantage.

An assessor will monitor your progress and conduct assessments in the workplace.

Future opportunities

You can move on to the Children and Young People's Advanced Level Apprenticeship.
