Course description

This Level 3 qualification is an advanced national qualification which focuses on the development of the underlying principles and practical skills required in the hairdressing industry. It is designed to deliver a high level of occupational capability. The course is very practical and will involve you working in a salon as well as attending College to complete the practical and theory work that supports the professional practice

Entry requirements

To start on this Level 3 course, you need:

A relevant Level 2 qualification with at least 80% Merit profile, including Level 2 English and Maths, and successful pass of a trade test
plus a work experience placement of at least one day per week in a salon, attend College commercial clinic for at least 2 weeks and an appropriate industry reference.

or if you are currently working in this industry for at least two years, supported by an industry reference and successfully passing a trade test.

Future opportunities

After 1 year at Level 3 you can achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or an Apprenticeship at Level 3

This means you will be a more experienced stylist offering more creative and advanced services. You could also seek employment in film/theatre, in special effects or on cruise ships.
