Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2 Diploma at Brooklands College

Course description

This is a one year course that will include both practical and theory work.

The course is for 16-19 year olds who wish to enter the professional world of the beauty industry.

Course content

Study will include facials, manicure, pedicure, waxing, lash and brow treatments, make-up and related anatomy and physiology.  During the course you will also be enrolled onto the tutorial, enrichment programme and either 1 functional skill that will prepare you for work within the beauty industry or an option to re-take 1 GCSE.  Students will be expected to wear uniform and present themselves in a professional manner as practical work will be assessed in the commercial beauty salon.

Entry requirements

You need 5 GCSE passes at grade D or above including 1 C in an appropriate subject or Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 1.


Continuous assessment via: practical client sessions, homework and course assignments, professional discussions, written evaluations and mandatory written test papers.

Financial information

A uniform and beauty kit will need to be purchased (information will be given to you at interview).  Visits may include: professional exhibitions and a chance to take part in competitions and suppliers product courses.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

Further studies in Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Complementary Therapies such as ITEC Level 3 Massage.  Alternatively, you can gain employment working in a beauty salon at Level 2.  This may include hotels and gyms, or you may also work as a make-up counter assistant.
