Creative Digital Media Production - BTEC First Extended Certificate / Diploma - Level 2 at Dudley College

Course description

This covers a range of media sectors including film, television, game design, publishing and print, radio and advertising. You will be encouraged to think and work creatively throughout your projects and you will develop skills and techniques used within creative media industries. You will use industry standard equipment including the latest Apple Mac computers.

Some of the subjects within the course may include:

Moving image production

  • Editing for moving image
  • Digital game production
  • Digital photography for a media product
  • Graphic design for digital media
  • Writing for digital media

Educational visits will also form an integral part of the curriculum.

Entry requirements

For entry 16/17:

4 GCSEs at grade D, including English language. You will also be asked to attend an interview. Applicants may be considered if you have experience but no formal qualifications.

For entry 17/18:

3 GCSEs at grade D and a grade 3 in English. You will also be asked to attend an interview. Applicants may be considered if you have experience but no formal qualifications.

Assessment

You will be assessed through coursework for both practical and theoretical elements and in the form of two short, paper based exams.

The form of assessment on the course will assist you as you progress either into higher levels of vocational learning or to related academic qualifications by providing independent assessment evidence of learning alongside a practical portfolio-based assessment.

There is no need to worry about the costs of coming to college as there is lots of financial help available. Our finance and welfare officers will be able to talk to you about any help that may be available to you based on your individual circumstances.

Students aged 16-18 attending a full-time further education course can apply to the 16-18 Bursary Fund for help with college related costs. Free BUS PASS

 

We will provide a free bus pass to help with travel costs for 16-18* year olds on full-time programmes, based on individual circumstances**. To qualify for a free bus pass***, you must live more than one mile from the campus at which you will be studying and not already be in receipt of other financial support, such as Care to Learn funding.

 

*Under 19 as at 31 August 2017.

 

**Students with learning difficulties or disabilities who are unable to access public transport may still be able to receive help – talk to our Student Finance team.

 

***Evidence of family income will need to be provided.
