Creative Media Production Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma at Haverstock School

Course description

This is a seven unit course; you will study four units in the first year and 3 units in the second year. You will gain an understanding of creative media production and practices used within the media industry. The qualification consists of three core units plus four optional units. This qualification is equivalent to one A Level. The BTEC qualification in creative media production is a highly specialist, work-related qualification. It gives you the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to prepare you for employment as well as higher education.

Course content

Three Core Units
Unit 1 – Preproduction Techniques for the Creative Media Industries
Unit 2 – Communication Skills for Creative Media Production
Unit 3 – Research Techniques for the Creative Media Industries

Optional Units include:
Film and Video Editing Techniques, Film Studies, Music Video Production and Advertisement Production for Television

Entry requirements

6+ GCSEs at grades A* to C
BTEC Level 2 Diploma/Extended Certificate at grade merit or above

Assessment

Over the two years of the programme you will need to produce assignments and projects which will include a range of moving image work, essay based coursework as well as presentations. All of this will be presented in an electronic format using a student blog. Therefore the units you see above will be assessed through written work and practical activities which you will be graded on.

Future opportunities

This qualification provides progression to higher education to study for degrees or professional development programmes within the same or related areas of media.
