Creative and Media Production Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at Redbridge College

Course description

Would you like to work in the media? On this interactive course you’ll gain a range of skills for working in television, film, interactive, online and print media industries. You’ll research media and digital media practices, and work independently on your own real-life project briefs.

Course content

Units you will study include:

  • Research techniques for the media
  • Pre-production techniques
  • Production management
  • Working to a brief in the media industry
  • Critical approaches to media products
  • Understanding the television and film industries
  • Film and video editing
  • Understanding video technology

Functional Skills: 16-18: You will also study English and maths to support your main course. 19+: You may study one of the functional skills if appropriate.

Entry requirements

You will need to have five GCSEs at Grade C, including maths and English, or a relevant BTEC Level 2 qualification. You will also be required to provide a portfolio of your previous graphic Media or E-Media projects you have completed. This can either be a hard copy or a digital portfolio (saved on a CD/DVD or USB stick, or links to content online).


You'll be taught by our highly skilled team of staff who will pass on their years of industry knowledge and experience to you. Assessment takes place through a mixture of creative, practical and written projects.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you will be able to explore a variety of career paths including advertising, marketing, web design and radio production. You will also have the opportunity to further enhance your skills and knowledge by progressing on to the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production course at Redbridge College.
