Course description

If you want to pursue a career in sport then this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to aid your progression in to Sport, Physical Activity and Health-related careers. This programme is designed for those with an interest in: Athlete development, professional sport, leisure centre management, sports development, sports coaching, health and lifestyle management, personal training, nutrition, sports injury rehabilitation.
Successful completion of this programme provides you with the opportunity for progression into Higher Education, preparing you for employment.
During the course of this programme, you will explore both theoretical and practical subjects and you will study the following topics: Sport Psychology; Sport Coaching; Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise; Analysis of Sport Performance; Anatomy and Physiology; Practical Sport; Sports Massage; Sports Nutrition; Exercise; Health and Lifestyle; Fitness Training and Testing; Sport Injuries and Sport Development.

 

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs including 3 from English Language, Maths, Science and PE (minimum grade C) or equivalent qualifications. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report) along with evidence of specific and sustained interest and motivation in sport; and an ability to cope with a programme of physical activity.

Assessment

Assessment is through a combination of coursework and practical assessments.
