Personal and Business Finance Level 3 at The King Edmund School

Course description

This course will serve the needs of a wide range of learners who are either employed or seeking employment in private, public or voluntary organisations in the business and finance sector. It will be particularly relevant to those working or interested in working in the financial services industry.

Course content

The aim of this course is to give students knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry. Students study the different ways individuals and businesses make the most of their money by investing and managing it efficiently using the services of a range of financial institutions and their products. There is also
consideration of financial regulation, ethics and trends. Students also have the opportunity to take part in an internship through the Career Academy. Career Academy is a programme that prepares students for the world of work in business. It focuses on linking students to employers through master classes, mentoring, workplace visits and internships.


Assessment is all through coursework. This six-unit specification requires students to develop their ability to acquire a range of important and transferable skills including data skills, presenting arguments, making judgments and conducting research.

Future opportunities

BTEC Personal Finance combined with other BTECs or A Level subjects will give you the freedom to continue with a wide range of studies or find employment in a variety of professions. If you have a particular passion for Business and Finance it will lay the foundations for further study (university) and careers in business and finance (for example work in the financial or banking industry sectors, accountancy, marketing and management).
