Law (Applied) at Knole Academy

Course description

This course is an excellent introduction to the study of law. It will help students to develop a sound legal understanding and decide if they would like to pursue further study or a career in law. Students should check with their intended universities whether applied law is an accepted entry qualification


Course content

Applied law is a good introduction to the basic concepts of law such as court hierarchy and precedence. Students also get to study substantive areas of law such as criminal law and a choice of family lase, consumer law, contract law or tort.

Entry requirements

Five or more GCSE qualifications at grade C (equivalent) or above including English and Mathematics at grade 5.


Tasks are set and marked by Edexcel as controlled conditions tasks with pre-release information and student preparation. Assignments are set and marked internally and the marking is checked by Edexcel.

This course is designed to provide students with basic knowledge for a career in the legal profession. It is also valuable to prepare students  with skills suitable for university.

Further information

Students will be assessed throughout Year 1 through internal assessment, mock exams and where available, external exams. Students need to demonstrate strong performance in all assessments to gain entry to Year 2.
