Business BTEC 90-Credit Diploma-Extended Diploma Level 3 at PETROC

Course description

Course content

In the first year, this Diploma offers an introduction to business related topics covering the core areas of the Business Environment, Resources and Communications, Marketing, Accounting and Human Resource Management. You will also take part in an enterprise challenge which is designed to improve your entrepreneurial skills.

In your second year, you will explore more specialist areas such as Projects and Event Management, Retailing and Website Design.

The programme includes an exciting work experience placement, and you will be encouraged to explore more specialised business areas such as Creative Marketing, Retailing, Economics, Business Ethics and Law.

Entry requirements

All entrants must hold GCSE English Language at grade 4/5 or above and preferably GCSE Maths at grade 4/5 or above, amongst the 5 GCSEs at grade C required for entry. 

Entrants not holding a grade 4 in Maths, but who have a grade 2/3, will study GCSE Maths and take the examination at the end of the year. Completing first years will not be able to automatically continue into their second year without achieving GCSE Maths at grade 4.

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, or equivalent, with at least a grade C in English and a grade D in Maths. Alternatively, a Merit from a Level 2 qualification is also acceptable.

Financial information

Q. Do I need to buy any text books?
A. All learning materials are provided by the programme team, however there are text books that mirror the course. These are available to buy or free of charge on line for all learners. Details will be given in your induction week.

Q. Are there any additional costs?
A. Students undertake a variety of optional trips and activities for which there may be a small cost. For example all learners are given the opportunity to participate in a European/UK residential for which there is a cost.

Q. What happens if I need help with my assignments?
A. All learners are given regular 1:1 support form their lecturers in addition to three formal upgrade weeks during the year when all assignments can be revisited and improved.

Q. Is the course delivered on every day of the week?
A. We make every effort to timetable over four days, giving learners the opportunity to get part-time work or additional study time for one day a week.
