AS Course: Consists of 3 Units Unit 1 : Atoms, Bonds and Groups Unit 2 : Chains, Energy and Resources Unit 3 : Practical Skills in Chemistry 1 A2 Course: Consists of 3 Units Unit 1: Rings, Polymers and Analysis Unit 2: Equilibria, Energetics and Elements Unit 3: Practical Skills in Chemistry 2

Course content

Hollyfield follows the OCR specification.  At AS level there is

  • Atoms, Bonds and Groups
  • Chains Energy and Resources
  • Practical Skills in Chemistry 1

At A2 level there is

  • Rings, Polymers and Analysis
  • Equilibria, Energetics and the Elements
  • Practical Skills in Chemistry 2

 

Entry requirements

A/B in both GCSE Science and in GCSE Additional Science or in GCSE Chemistry

Assessment

There are two examined modules in Year 12 and Year 13.  There is also one Practical Skills examination in each year.

Future opportunities

Students with degrees in Chemistry work in education, finance, forensics, law, consultancy, media, sales and marketing, laboratory work and in industries such as cosmetics, plastics, paint, medicines, food and drink, and many more.
